Ganderbal, Sep 29 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir government has said that the construction of the New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) at Wangath in Kangan has achieved around 60 per cent physical progress, while the project was delayed due to financial limitations and tendering issues under the Tribal Sub-Plan over the years.
The information was provided by the Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department in response to a starred question raised by Kangan MLA Mian Mehar Ali regarding the physical and financial status of the NTPHC Wangath project and the timeline for its completion.
The department, as reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said the construction of the NTPHC Wangath was taken up during 2017-18 under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) District Sector at an approved cost of ₹191.40 lakh through the J&K Housing Board. So far, ₹122.66 lakh has been incurred on the project.
The government said the project has achieved approximately 60 per cent physical progress, with the skeleton structure and roofing completed.
It attributed the delay in execution to financial constraints and tendering issues under the Tribal Sub-Plan over the years.
“Keeping in view the importance of the project, funding limitations and for early resumption/completion of the balance components of the project,” a revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) amounting to ₹148.41 lakh has been prepared by the J&K Housing Board and is under examination with the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir for accord of Administrative Approval, the department said.
The government further said that since the District Development Council (DDC), Ganderbal, has expressed funding limitations under the District Sector Tribal Sub-Plan, funding for execution of the balance components would be explored under the UT Capex Budget for the revised estimates for 2026-27 and 2027-28.
Regarding the revised timeline for completion, the department said that after completion of the required Administrative Approval (AA) formalities, financial concurrence and provision of funds, the remaining work would be resumed and completed within two working seasons, so as to make the NTPHC Wangath functional—(KNO)
